Sony invites fans to peek inside its 2015 PlayStation plans with a two-day event
Sony will hold a two-day, "massive" community event for PlayStation fans called PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas, Nev., from Dec. 6 - 7, social media manager Sid Shuman announced via the PlayStation Blog. PlayStation Experience will be open to attendees 18 and over.

Ace Attorney Trilogy comes to Nintendo 3DS in December
Nintendo 3DS owners will get a triple shot of Phoenix Wright this holiday season with the release of the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy. Capcom confirmed at New York Comic Con today that the game will hit the Nintendo eShop in North America on Dec. 9.

Zynga brings a little Tinder to Words with Friends
It’s been five years, 58 billion words and 1.2 trillion points since the original Word with Friends was released, eventually becoming the top free game of all time on Apple’s App Store. Today the Zynga game gets a sequel in New Words with Friends, a title that brings a bevy of player-inspired updates to the popular word-building game including the ability to play on your own, a built-in dictionary and Tinder-like match maker. “This is the most significant update we’ve made to the game in its history,” said Jonathan Knight, vice president of games for Zynga.

Video game win cited at trial of accused Boston Marathon bomber's friend

Azamat Tazhayakov, 20, recounted how he lost an Xbox NBA video game to his friend Robel Phillipos, before they want to the dorm room of bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. "I don't remember him having a problem," Tazhayakov said of Phillipos' victory in the game. ...

PlayStation Now open beta coming to PlayStation TV, Vita on Oct. 14
Sony's streaming game service, PlayStation Now, will be available in "open beta" on the PlayStation TV — and the PlayStation Vita, whose hardware it's based on — when the micro-console launches in North America on Oct. 14. Currently available on both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, PlayStation Now offers gamers "over 150 PS3 titles" to rent at prices that range from reasonable ($7.99 for 30 days) to crazy (as much as $4.99 for four hours). Sony has said that pricing for PlayStation Now is subject to change and that this open beta period is designed to gather feedback.

Super Smash Bros., first amiibo hit Wii U Nov. 21, Captain Toad Dec. 5
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U hits North America on Nov. 21 and Captain Toad will be released on Dec. 5, Nintendo announced this morning. The first wave of Nintendo's interactive amiibo figures will also hit on Nov. 21 for $12.99 a pop. The second wave that launches in December includes Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon.
