PlayStation announces superhero TV series 'Powers'

The "Powers" comics star detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim Police procedural "Powers" is to become Sony's first serving of TV content for the PlayStation Network, adapted from the acclaimed Eisner Award-winning graphic novel series. The series has been on Sony's books since it was first optioned in 2001, with a previous production attempt taking place in 2011. But where Fox's FX Network might have originally viewed "Powers" as a replacement for "The Shield," Sony's new venture is perhaps better placed to tap "Heroes" -- especially with cinema franchise "The Avengers" in full swing. Accordingly, this revamped effort recruits writer Charlie Huston, author of adolescent crime fiction caper "The Shotgun Rule," spy novel "Skinner" and a number of Marvel comics, who is a self-professed fan of "Powers."
