Among titles releasing the week of May 7, "Project CARS" brings crowdfunded racing simulation to the masses, "Not a Hero" pivots on election fever and assassination games, "Wolfenstein: The Old Blood" continues to carve its contemporary take on FPS foundations, and the mysterious "High Strangeness" graduates from its five-year Kickstarter-funded development. Crowdfunded using its own proprietary platform and with a PC version that has received years of incremental improvement and backer feedback, the highly ambitious and long-awaited "Project CARS" focuses on race simulation rather than unlockable extras -- though a number of original career modes are there -- with a host of tracks, brands and race types available from the off, and a vibrant multiplayer ready to go. Perceived as both blunt instrument and sophisticated extollation of and elaboration upon first-person genre conventions, series reboot "Wolfenstein: The New Order" begat this prequel. Despite occuring earlier in the timeline, "The Old Blood" aims to build upon "The New Order," and also comes at a much lower price to tempt series veterans and rookies alike.
